Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare the epidemiology, prognosis and socio-economic aspects of perforating eye injuries (PEIs) between the decades 1930-39 and 1950-59. The literature on the various aspects of PEI, including intra-ocular foreign bodies (IOFBs), is reviewed.The methods of examination are described.
