Abstract: A pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is caused by abnormal communications between the pulmonary arteries and veins. In this study, a 64-year old woman presented with a large PAVM in the central upper lobe of the right lung. As feeding vessels were large and short, the patient was scheduled for resection therapy. By clamping the right main pulmonary artery, the blood flow into the PAVM was controlled and lobectomy was performed safely. Although advances in interventional radiology have led to the intro… Show more

“…However, transarterial embolization is usable as an effective method for PAVM treatment today (1,4,6,12). The studies are reporting recanalization and the need for re-treatment in 5-17% ratio after transarterial embolization, in the literature.…”

“…Sometimes dilation of the left heart can be determined [3]. Angiopulmonography is an absolutely proven method of X-ray diagnosis of AVML, especially with multiple lesions, and its modification in combination with magnetic resonance imaging has a resolution to vessels of the 5 th order [6,8]. Some researchers use Ts-99m MAA scanning to diagnose AVML [5].…”
