“…Aging is a spontaneous and inevitable process in living organisms, which gradually show signs of decline in function, adaptability, and immunity. Aging is closely related to numerous diseases, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, and senile dementia, which can be alleviated by delaying aging (Buford, 2016;Kitada et al, 2016;Chard et al, 2017). Currently, d-galactose is recognized as an aging-inducing agent, and aging animal models constructed using dgalactose are similar to the natural aging process.…”

“…Aging is an inevitable biological process of growing older, which is accompanied by signs of decline in function, adaptability, and disease resistance of the body. Aging is an important risk factor for many diseases, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, and senile dementia, whereas the onset of these diseases can be delayed by slowing down aging [ 12 , 13 , 14 ]. d -galactose is currently recognized as an aging-inducing agent that can induce aging in animal models, which is similar to the natural aging process, and thus has been widely used in the creation of animal models of aging.…”

“…To systematically explore over 4000 pages of narrative, data were formatted into ATLAS.ti ( 33 ), an organizational and analytical program that expedites evaluation of complex phenomenon in unstructured data. Analysis initiated with the development of an inductively derived codebook ( 27 ). First, the entire research team open-coded a selection of transcripts (n = 8; 2 AA men, 2 AA women, 2 NHW men, 2 NHW women) to identify a preliminary set of codes.…”

“…Data for this analysis were drawn from the Subjective Experience of Diabetes among Urban Older Adults (SED) study ( 27 ), a qualitative project exploring subjective understandings of diabetes among male and female African American (AA) and non-Hispanic whites (NHW). The community-dwelling sample was recruited through the Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span (HANDLS) study ( 28 ).…”
