Abstract: Cleavage of the acetyl carbon-carbon bond of acetyl-CoA in Methanosarcina barkeri is catalyzed by a high molecular mass multienzyme complex. The complex contains a corrinoid protein and carbon monoxide dehydrogenase and requires tetrahydrosarcinapterin (H4SPt) as methyl group acceptor.
