Study on antibacterial and copper ion removal of chitosan fiber/acetate fiber and yarn for water purification

Abstract: Use chitosan (CS) fiber and cellulose acetate (CA) fiber with different mixing ratios as raw materials, the kinetic and thermodynamic characteristics of the adsorption process of chitosan fiber/cellulose acetate fiber (CS/CA) ratio of 90:10 are explored, and the adsorption process conforms to the quasi-second-order kinetic equation. It can be fitted by Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption process is a spontaneous thermal reaction with both physical adsorption and chemical adsorption. The best adsorption time is 3… Show more

“…3 With the potential for the aforementioned biomedical applications, cellulose acetate (CA) from biomass resources is biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic, and feasible to fabricate and control its processing parameters via electrospinning. [4][5][6] Electrospinning is a promising way to manipulate the diameter of fibers and porosity of membranes in combination with a functional coating. 7,8 The pore size is one of the filtration attributes of nanofibrous membranes because it allows the passage or blocks the movement of microorganism.…”
