Study of the Corrosion of Nickel–Chromium Alloy in an Acidic Solution Protected by Nickel Nanoparticles

Abstract: This study uses nickel nanoparticles coated on the nickel–chromium (Ni–Cr) alloy by the electrodeposition technique to protect the alloy against corrosion. An open-circuit potential and potentiodynamic and linear polarization resistance in a 1 M H 2 SO 4 solution saturated with carbon dioxide were used to study the anticorrosion performance of nanoparticle coatings. When coated with nanomaterials, the corrosion rate of Ni–Cr alloy was lower than when it was bare, a… Show more

“…The adjusted frequency values for electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM) were 2 Hz and 5 Hz at 25 °C. The inhibition efficiency was calculated for EFM, EIS and PDP from the following equations: 42–44 where, and i corr are current density for corrosion electrolytes without and with inhibitors, respectively.where, R ct (i) and R ct (0) are the charge transfer resistance with and without inhibitor, respectively, using 1.0 M HCl electrolyte medium.…”

“…Elemental analysis was carried out using a PerkinElmer 2400 CHN elemental analyzer. With a Gouy balance, a Sherwood scientic magnetic scale, and H g [-Co(CSN) 4 ] as the signing, the magnetic susceptibilities of the powdered materials were tested at ambient temperature. CONSORT K410 was used to analyze the molar conductance of 1 × 10 −3 M solutions of the ligands and their complexes in ethanol.…”

“…The band at 350 nm (28 571 cm −1 ) could be assigned to n-p* transition. 37 Moreover, the [Co(L) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]Cl 2 $H 2 O complex electronic spectrum shows two wide bands at 495 nm (21 052 cm −1 ) and 611 nm (16 366 cm −1 ) due to 4 T 1g (F) / 4 T 1g (P) (n 3 ) and 4 T 1g (F) / 4 A 2g (F) (n 2 ) transitions, respectively in an octahedral high-spin d 7 (ref. 39) (Fig.…”
