Study of Precision, Deviations and Uncertainty in the Design of the Strategic Noise Map of the Macrocenter of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Abstract: This article aims to discuss the influence of input data on the simulation model when designing Strategic Noise Maps. The studied noise map was made in the Macrocenter of the Independent City of Buenos Aires (Argentina), which has an approximated extension of 20 km 2 and about 500,000 inhabitants. The several input data for the model are analyzed, for their quality and the lack of some of them could affect the final result. Also, the evolution and validity of experimental measurements are analyzed when validat… Show more

“…Segundo Ausejo et al (2010), as fontes de ruído ligadas ao entretenimento são as mais preocupantes, pois estão em plena atividade no horário de descanso da população em geral. Nas cidades com vocação turística, essa situação agrava-se por causa da sazonalidade, uma vez que a geração de ruído sofre incremento na temporada de férias, de forma que a população local se torna mais afetada, por não estar acostumada com a situação (BRITO & BARBOSA, 2014).…”

“…Limitations in local traffic data, including lack of traffic counts on all roadways can lead to uncertainty in noise models. 27 In addition, the high population density and high rates of non-car commuting in certain areas of NYC suggest that non-traffic environmental noise sources may contribute more to exposure in these areas than in typical urban environments. As a result, models that rely on traffic and land use may mischaracterize noise levels in NYC.…”

“…Notable examples in the EU include ; Garai and Fattori (2009);Licitra (2011); Murphy and King (2011) and Vogiatzis (2012), but similar research has also been initiated in other jurisdictions (see Ausejo, 2010;Wang and Kang, 2011;Lam and Ma, 2012). As a result of the completion of the first phase of noise mapping, the EU estimates that 40.2 million citizens suffer from excessive exposure to night-time road traffic noise alone; when aircraft, rail and industrial sources are also considered the figure rises to 48.8 million (Guarinoni et al, 2012).…”
