Abstract. Iswandaru D, Novriyanti N, Banuwa IS, Harianto SP. 2020. Distribution of bird communities in University of Lampung, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 2629-2637. University of Lampung (UNILA), Indonesia holds a variety of potential biodiversity, especially birds, species that are sensitive to environmental changes. It is necessary to detect early bird communities spread across UNILA before the physical of this higher institution of education (including vegetation distribution that supplies birdlife) begins to change even further. The method used is the Field Method and Concentration Count Method. Research and Experimental Garden (ST1), Integrated Field Laboratory (ST2), Soccer Field (ST3), Deer Breeding (ST4), Arboretum and Green Lane (ST5) were observed for 2 months. The results showed that 37 bird species from 21 families and 8 orders were spread in each study location. The Passeriformes group dominated in all five study sites with the number of species and the number of families reaching 57% of all species found. Most bird communities (individuals, species, and families) can be found in the Integrated Field Laboratory (ST2) compared to the other four locations. Diversity index numbers (H '), Evenness (E), and Dominance (D) types at this location also support it even though the overall results of the analysis show that the distribution of bird species is evenly distributed and that no bird species dominate in community building.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tipe stomata tanaman anggota suku Myrtaceae yang terdapat di Kota Langsa. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat dan mahasiswa tentang tipe stomata tanaman anggota suku Myrtaceae yang dijumpai di Kota Langsa. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menggambarkan dan menginterpretasikan tipe stomata pada daun tanaman anggota suku Myrtaceae. Pengambilan sampel daun secara purposive sampling, tidak dilakukan pengambilan sampel ulangan pada jenis tumbuhan yang sama. Pembuatan preparat stomata dilakukan dengan metode replica menggunakan kuteks (cat kuku transparan). Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan jenis-jenis tanaman anggota suku Myrtaceae di daerah Kota Langsa diperoleh sebanyak empat spesies meliputi jambu biji (Psidium guajava) kultivar merah dan kristal, jambu bol (Syzygium malaccense) kultivar kampung dan jamaika, jambu air merah (Syzygium aqueum), dan jambu air putih (Syzygium samaragense). Tipe stomata yang dijumpai pada keempat spesies tersebut yaitu anomositik dan parasitik. Tipe stomata anomositik terdapat pada jambu biji merah dan kristal (P. guajava). Tipe stomata parasitik dijumpai pada jambu air merah (S. aqueum), jambu air putih (S. samarangense), dan jambu bol jamaika (S. malaccense).

Exploring Fruit Tree Species as Multifunctional Greenery: A Case of Its Distribution in Indonesian Cities

Planting multifunctional trees (e.g., fruit species) in cities can promote genetic conservation, economic activity, ecosystem services, and social cohesion. However, in Indonesia, the relationship between the abundance of fruit tree species and different city characteristics, including their involvement in the national smart city project, is still unknown. In this study, published reports and field surveys were used to evaluate the fruit tree distribution and its relationship with the characteristics of 224 of 514 Indonesian cities in order to identify tree species for multifunctional city greenery. This is the first study on the distribution of fruit tree species at the national level. The study identified 151 fruit species of 90 genera and 40 families, including large-sized fruits, such as avocados, breadfruit, coconuts, durians, jackfruit, and mangos. On average, cities contained 54 tree species, of which 21 (38.9%) were fruit trees. These findings indicate that cities are important contributors to the genetic conservation of local fruit trees, which can be further evaluated as new city greenery. However, a city’s involvement in the smart city project bore no relationship (p > 0.05) with the number of identified fruit species. Conversely, non-fruit species tended to be more diverse in smart cities. Since the presence of fruit species is associated with the city population, geographic position, climate, altitude, and attitude towards the fragility of sustainable conservation, introducing and maintaining these species as city greenery requires advocacy to city stakeholders.
