Abstract:Plant decaying biomass is the most abundant provider of carbon sources for soil-dwelling microorganisms. To optimally evolve in such environmental niches, microorganisms possess an arsenal of hydrolytic enzymatic complexes to feed on the various types of polysaccharides, oligosaccharides, and monosaccharides.
