Structural, textural and toluene adsorption properties of microporous–mesoporous zeolite omega synthesized by different methods

Abstract: This work deals with the preparation of the zeolite omega using hydrothermal route. This zeolite was modified by acidic, basic and hydrothermal treatment (at 100°C and 150°C) using a basic/CTA ? solution. The modified zeolites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, adsorption/desorption of argon, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis TGA and scanning electronic microscopy. The obtained materials were tested for the adsorption of toluene at ambient temperature. The results showed… Show more

“…Zeolite is with crystalline aluminosilicate framework and consists of infinite three-dimensional (3D) arrangement of TO4 tetrahedron (T is Al or Si) (Mekki et al, 2019). The two tetrahedrons share the oxygen atoms, resulting in crosslinking in space that generates channels and regular dimensions of cavities which can accommodate organic small molecules.…”

“…Omega framework contains gmelinite cages bridged by oxygen atoms to give a 12-membered cylindrical channel system along the crystallographic c-axis. Due to its high acidity and unique structural features, omega zeolite received much attention as catalyst and adsorbent [13][14][15][16][17][18]. To date, to improve the textural properties of the omega zeolite, researchers have turned to dealumination of this zeolite.…”
