“…Following the initial assignment by Jain et al (3), several reports assigned the subpeak of ∼3310 cm −1 to the O-H stretching vibration of bulklike water in AOT-formed reverse micelles (15,22,24,25). However, it has been well demonstrated that the O-H stretching vibration of bulk water centers around 3420 cm −1 (15,22,23). Our IR results for AOT-and NaDEHP-formed reverse micelles also showed that the O-H stretching frequencies of solubilized water in the respective systems approached the frequency of bulk water (3417 cm −1 ) with increasing water content (1).…”
