“…In rare instances, the leakage is caused by a congenital malformation of the ear.The first case of spontaneous CSF otorrhea was described by Escat2 in 1897. Since then, as far as can be traced in the literature, excluding the present case, 40 cases of spontaneous CSF otorrhea were reported.333 Of these 40 cases, the number of cases with apparent bony defect of the sta¬ pedial footplate was 1347·91214·'6·17 of which 12 cases had central defect between the crura and one case had total defect in the stapedial foot¬ plate.11 In 17 other cases, the leakage sites were reportedly found around or in the margin of the oval window 8.13.15.18-25 29. other affected sites include the medial wall of the tym¬ panic cavity,3-26·28 the tegmen of the antrum, 2932-33 and the roof of the eustachian tube.8 Ages in the cases with a fistula of stapedial footplate ranged from 3 months to 61 years at the time of treatment, but in most cases the first attack of meningitis occurred at a very early age.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.
