“…Enhancement of Eu 3+ ions emissions has been observed. Lately, numerous works concerning silver nanoparticles and emission enhancements through LSPR phenomenon have been reported in case of various glass systems [12][13][14][15]. Number of studies described the formation of silver nanoparticles in glass matrix through heat treatment approach.…”

“…Kassab et al [24] have observed the enhancement of luminescence at 480, 650 and 800 nm in the Yb 3+ /Tm 3+ co-doped tellurite glasses containing Ag NPs, which is attributed to the intensified local electric field in the vicinity of metallic nanostructures. Hu et al [25] have synthesized the Er 3+ /Tm 3+ /Yb 3+ tri-doped oxyfluorogermanate glasses containing Ag NPs and showed that the presence of Ag NPs remarkably improves the 476 nm upconversion emission of Tm 3+ ions up to 2 fold. However, few reports have been focused on the enhancement of the near-infrared band fluorescence such as 1.85 µm emission for the Tm 3+ -doped glass materials with Ag NPs at present.…”

“…Indeed, the presence of metallic silver nanoclusters in a glass containing rare earth centers have been demonstrated to enhance their optical properties, with application for example in optical amplifiers technology. In particular, field-enhancement effects and energy-transfer mechanisms between Ag clusters and rare earth ions are at the basis of the enhanced luminescence performances [71][72]. Again, silver offers several degrees of freedom in the tailoring of the optical response of this class of materials, being the various sensitizing features anyhow related to the presence in the glass of several different forms of silver, ranging from Ag pairs to nanosized aggregates [73].…”
