Abstract: Oil sludge is a complex organic mixture of hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon parts. In present work the elemental composition of the oil refinery sludge was studied by the modern analysis methods-chromatography, infrared and X-ray fluorescence. The mixture of oil sludge mainly composed of hydrocarbon part (80%), gum (40%), paraffinic-naphthenic (18%) and heavy aromatic hydrocarbons (16%). The results were confirmed by the spectra.
