Abstract: -The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between milk urea nitrogen (MUN) and milk yield, fat and protein contents, breed and season effects, parity and days in milk in dairy cows from Paraná State, Brazil. collected during the winter were higher than those collected in the other seasons. The effects of the lactation stage on MUN were significant, with the highest MUN values observed in the sixth month of lactation. High-producing dairy cows showed higher milk urea concentrations but seve… Show more

“…The urea levels between 12.90 and 15.60 mg/dL milk (Table 1) suggest that protein nutrition was adequate (Doska et al 2012 Table 2 shows the composition of the milk nutrients in the bulk tank and UHT processed milk. These values comply with current Brazilian legislation (Brasil 2011) and are similar to those reported by Ribas et al (2014), who investigated 1,950,034 bulk tank samples in the state of Paraná and found content percentages of 3.74 ± 0.69 fat, 3.22 ± 0.27 protein, 4.40 ± 0.23 lactose, and 12.29 ± 0.85 total solids.…”

“…O NUL tem uma grande variação, pois deriva da ureia presente na corrente sanguínea e, portanto é responsivo a uma série de componentes dos sistemas de produção animal (DOSKA et al, 2012;SOARES et al, 2013). Provavelmente, o efeito da estação do ano foi sobrepujado por outros componentes do rebanho.…”

“…After approximately 150 days of lactation, MU decreased. Also, in the study of Doska et al (2012), the impact of the lactation phase on MUN was found to be significant, as the highest MUN values were observed in the sixth month of lactation.…”

“…According to Doska et al (2012), primiparas showed higher MUN values compared to multiparas, which may be explained by the lower milk production of younger cows. Moreover, Hojman et al (2004) reported the association between high MU levels and high milk yields.…”
