The researcher of this paper has found that poetry and lyrics are similar and can be compared in several ways. However, there are not many studies about this. Learning the differences and similarities in poetry and lyrics can help writers enhance their creative abilities and step up their understanding in musical ways like tempo and in writing ways like words. Based on the previous literature review, the researcher has generally summed them up and drawn some conclusions. In the introduction, some relationships between poetry and lyrics were illustrated and some existing problems were raised. It also generalized the study ways and aspects of this paper, giving an overall view of the whole passage. This paper analyzed imagery perspective at first and found that there are no obvious distinctions; in the way of content, the researcher first listed some elements in poem writing and then explained both differences and common grounds in the aspect of thought expressing, narrating content and interactions with readers or the audience, raising several examples of lyrics in stage performing. The paper discussed their dissimilitude in forms. Next, the researcher studied the language processing of the two issues, analyzing poetry and lyrics from words using translation and a rhetorical skill: repetition.

This article analyses findings from the Economic and Social Research Council/Arts and Humanities Research Council (ESRC/AHRC)-funded ‘Distant Voices – Coming Home’ project (ES/POO2536/1), which uses creative methods to explore crime, punishment and reintegration. Focusing on songs co-written in Scottish prisons, we argue that the songs serve to complicate and substantiate our grasp of what state punishment does to people, as well as perhaps affording their prison-based co-writers both moments and modalities of resistance to dominant narratives within criminal justice. In doing so, they creatively express and explore affective and perhaps even unconscious aspects of the self. We argue that our work contributes to a more expansive and considered treatment of narrative in criminology; one that admits and engages with a more diverse and creative range of expressions of experience and selfhood, all of them partial and some of them contradictory. By attending to diverse kinds of narratives embodied in these songs, we learn more about what criminalisation, penalisation and incarceration do to people and to their stories.

En nuestra sociedad las cifras de agresiones machistas aumentan entre la población adolescente a pesar de los esfuerzos realizados desde las administraciones para erradicar la violencia de género. Este trabajo de investigación centra su análisis en el discurso musical que rodea al adolescente para poder establecer una relación entre la presencia de mensajes machistas en los contenidos culturales y la normalización de estos comportamientos en sus pautas de interacción social. Para alcanzar nuestro objetivo, en primer lugar, desarrollamos una metodología cuantitativa basada en el análisis de contenido de una muestra de 350 canciones cuyas letras tienen relación con esta temática. Los resultados muestran que a pesar de que los mensajes en contra de la violencia de género son más habituales en las canciones analizadas, los contenidos que potencian la violencia de género son los más distribuidos por las industrias culturales y, por tanto, los que más éxito tienen entre los jóvenes. En segundo lugar, proponemos una metodología de trabajo que nos permite utilizar en el aula el poder educativo de la música para socializar al adolescente en valores que le ayuden a identificar y combatir la violencia de género.
