Some Similarities / Differences between Steel Static and Virtual Brass Static Casting

Abstract: An innovative method for determining the structural zones in the large static steel ingots has been described. It is based on the mathematical interpretation of some functions obtained due to simulation of temperature field and thermal gradient field for solidifying massive ingot. The method is associated with the extrema of an analyzed function and with its points of inflection. Particularly, the CET transformation is predicted as a time-consuming transition from the columnar-into equiaxed structure. The equa… Show more

“…At first, however, the tip radius of columnar cell or dendrite is forming and eventually its value decides on the structure spacing, [3]. it is substantiated, because the solidification occurs under steady conditions during continuously cast alloys (the initial transient period of the process under investigation, is not taken into account, [4]). Finally, some relationships can be formulated as an adequate polynomial (named as the Growth Law) which relates the tip radius with the solidification rate.…”

“…However, currently more and more emphasis, in the context of forming alloys properties, is being attached to the ecological factor [14][15][16][17] and virtualization and process modeling [18][19]. Harmful elements from the group of heavy metals should be, in a maximal possible way, eliminated from alloys, i.e.…”

“…Ordinary casting lead-free brasses, containing 10 to 40% of zinc, as well as arsenic brasses of an increased resistance to dezincification are well suited for the socalled eco-brasses. A wide group of Cu-Zn alloys, mainly low-zinc, is applied for producing semi-products and elements of machines and devices in the form of sections -extruded and drawn -of various dimensions and cross-sections [19]. Ordinary brasses are also casting brasses.…”
