Solubilities of Tris(o-phenylenedioxy)cyclotriphosphazene in Selected Solvents

Abstract: Tris-(o-phenylenedioxy)-cyclotriphosphazene (TPP) was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis (EA) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The melting point and the enthalpy of fusion of TPP were measured by da ifferential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and the thermal stability of TPP was measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Using a static analytical method, the solubility data of TPP in nine solvents were measured and correlated with an empirical equation. Moreover, using the ScatchardÀHildeb… Show more

“…Hexagonal platelets were prepared from triblock copolymer PPO 14 -b-PEO 25 -b-PPO 14 (P-E-P, Figure 1c) and TPP, which was synthesized according to literature. 15 By simply heating the P-E-P/TPP mixture (EO/TPP = 1.3:1, molar ratio) in toluene at 80 °C for 1 h and cooling to 20 °C naturally within 2 h, the PEO block forms host−guest inclusion crystals, while the PPO block remains soluble in solvent and thus provides sufficient colloidal stability for the platelets, as elucidated by the molecular packing in Figure 1c. Owing to the higher mass density of the densely packed inclusion complex crystals, the platelets were clearly visible, while the short PPO chains were almost invisible under transmission electron microscopy (TEM, Figure 1d).…”
