Abstract: Soliton solutions in the SU(2) chiral quark model are studied for different values of a constituent mass M and quark axial-vector coupling g,4. It is shown that there exists a critical quark mass M,, above which the energetically stable soliton solutions appear. Moreover, as the constituent quark mass increases the soliton mass becomes smaller than the free-quark threshold.
