“…The downfield shift of the resonance from À10.4 ppm (x = 10.7 mol% Nb 2 O 5 ) to À5.7 ppm (x = 37.5 mol% Nb 2 O 5 ) reflects the depolymerisation of the phosphate network by the incorporation of NbO 6 groups. Close values of chemical shifts of 31 P in sodiumniobium phosphate glasses were ascribed by Flambard et al [9] to the presence of Q 1 (Nb, Na) sites. We assume that similar Q 1 (Nb, K) sites are present also in the glasses with a low Nb 2 O 5 content, and we notice that the phosphate chains are also depolymerized due to the presence of borate groups.…”

“…Hence, the present structural study was conducted on the above mentioned simplified composition. We used 93 Nb and 17 O NMR analyses, Raman scattering spectroscopy and XPS at the O1s core level. Some physical glass properties, such as density and molar volume, were measured.…”

“…In a previous paper [17], we reported the structure of the glass network using 31 P 1D and 2D MAS-NMR. It was deduced that the dissociation of Nb 2 O 5 in the phosphate glass is not complete, thus resulting in the presence of a significant amount of residual Nb-ONb bonds.…”

“…Flambard et al 34 reported the connectivity between NbO 6 octahedra for niobophosphate glasses, even at low Nb 2 O 5 concentrations. The dissociation of Nb 2 O 5 in the glass is not complete, leaving numerous residual Nb-O-Nb bonds, specifically polymerized NbO 6 assemblies.…”
