Abstract: Hardware Reliability and Maintainability are design features that have not, until recently, received the emphasis that their importance warrants. SoftwareReliability and Maintainability has lagged hardware in much the same way.With the increased use and depen dence of systems on software, supportability of soft ware is critical. Software does not break or wear out in the traditional sense. If the software functions as required, then, it appears to be well-designed.
