Aggregate Economic Losses from Disability in the United States: A Preliminary Assay

Tables 2a and 2b the likelihood that individuals with impaired health will report dis ablement (Chirikos and Nestel 1984;Chirikos 1986;Chirikos and Nickel 1986). Lower-wage workers are more likely to be counted as disabled, and their earnings losses are likely to be overstated.…”

[5][6][7] The Framingham Study enables us to look at disability in a non-institutionalized population of older persons, to compare physical limitations of those with and without CHD, and to learn more about the relationship of disability to specific CHD manifestations. Our specific question is: among a population of non-institutionalized women and men ages 55-88 years in 1976-78, is disability related to uncomplicated ling for possible confounders.…”
