La fenomenología constituye, actualmente, una de bases teóricas clave de la investigación cualitativa. Su relevancia radica en investigar los fenómenos desde la experiencia vivida de los sujetos, lo cual la convierte en una metodología apropiada para el estudio de los significados e intenciones de las personas implicadas en acciones educativas. El objetivo principal del trabajo fue analizar la presencia y pertinencia de este método en investigaciones educativas cualitativas. Metodológicamente, se empleó la técnica de la revisión sistemática con objeto de determinar el ‘estado del arte’ en el uso de dicha metodología en investigaciones educativas de orientación cualitativa. Se determinó como periodo de análisis la década anterior, dado que se ha producido un otable incremento del empleo del método fenomenológico durante ese periodo de tiempo en Latinoamérica y España. Los análisis se centraron en tres áreas temáticas: qué piensa el o la docente sobre su actividad; qué significado le concede el alumnado a su experiencia educativa y, por último, cómo es percibida la relación interpersonal de ambas figuras educativas. Los resultados revelan que se abordan problemas de carácter socioeducativo, que predomina la interpretación frente a la mera descripción de lo investigado y, por último, que se tiende al uso de entrevistas en profundidad y diarios como principales herramientas de recogida de información. Se concluye que el método fenomenológico constituye una opción valiosa en la investigación educativa y se destaca que este tiende a ser aplicado en contextos educativos marginales o de especial vulnerabilidad, en tanto que facilita el acceso a la subjetividad de los participantes y su interpretación.

This work describes the construction of a conceptual structure, as a result of the domain analysis of the current research on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), through different techniques based on the citations and semantic analysis. A sample which covers all published articles about the disease in mainstream journals was chosen. A total of 1,968 articles from 2000 through 2004 were retrieved from Science Citation Index. Author Co-citation Analysis (ACA) techniques and semantic analysis were used and the results were represented by different informatic programs. A macrostructure of the domain of the current research on BPH was identified through bibliometric techniques. The text mining techniques allowed validation of the identified macrostructure and the obtainment of the most frequent words in the text. The semantic analysis of the most cited reviews on BPH during the studied period allowed the definition of the categories to be used in the structure. Finally, a conceptual structure to be used as controlled (structured) language in the information retrieval, inside of a specialized information system on the approach of the disease is shown.
