Small launch platforms for micro-satellites

Abstract: The number of small satellites launched into orbit has enormously increased in the last twenty years. The introduction of new standards of micro-satellites has multiplied the launch demand around the world. Nevertheless, not all the missions can easily have access to space: not all kinds of micro-satellites have granted a deployer system and, furthermore, once a micro-satellite is able to reach it, it cannot usually choose its final orbit. Recently two new platforms have been introduced for the release of micr… Show more

“…The UbatubaSat-II cooperation involves also the Associação Ubatubasat (Ubatubasat Association) in Ubatuba (SP, Brazil). The association is the responsible of the Ubatubsat program who allowed students aged 9-16 years from the school Tancredo Almeida Neves, in Ubatuba (SP) to launch the piscosatellite Tancredo-1, one of the two first TubeSats ever launched [10]. In this second edition the young students will use a 1U platform to integrate their new payload and UoN students will support them designing the deorbiting mechanism.…”

“…Os custos são ainda menores considerando orbitas de altitudes mais baixas (SHAO et al, 2014). Dessa forma, observa-se recentemente um alto crescimento de lançamento de satélites miniaturizados para diferentes tipos de estudos (CAPPELLETTI et al, 2018;CHUNG et al, 2016). Além disso, esses satélites oferecem uma oportunidade única para o estabelecimento de constelações com (FOSTER et al, 2015(FOSTER et al, , 2018.…”

“…Therefore, a clear demand for the development of light and ultralight launch vehicles has formed in the launch services market. In conditions of tough competition, developers are forced to look for new inexpensive and reliable technical solutions in this area, for example, the use of original propulsion systems (Bondarenko et al, 2018;Cappelletti et al, 2018;Schmierer et al, 2019) or original body structures (Bolonkin, 2006) and others solutions (Fedaravic ˇius et al, 2019).…”
