“…Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) occur in a spectrum of malignancies; among them, small-cell cancer is the most aggressive. Often, small cell carcinomas (SmCCs) arise in the lung and only 5% are extrapulmonary [ 2 ]. Common in postmenopausal females, the age group for vaginal SmCCs is 38-74 years.…”

“…Immunohistochemistry shows positivity for one or more neuroendocrine markers, including chromogranin A and synaptophysin. 1,106,111 Additionally, there are reports of positive staining for CK20, CK7, CD57, and AE1/AE3 [112][113][114] and negative reaction for CD56 and p63. 112 Interestingly, TTF1 can be positive in primary SCNECVa, so it is not a reliable marker to differentiate primary from metastatic SCNECVa.…”

“…In a recent systematic review, multimodality treatment with surgery and radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy was associated with the longest median overall survival of 29 months. 112 The type of surgery depends on the locoregional extent of the tumor, ranging from local resection in small localized lesions to pelvic exenteration in advanced cases. The role of lymphadenectomy is not clear and is usually performed in more advanced stage tumors.…”
