Skin‐color correction method based on hue template mapping for wide color gamut liquid crystal display devices

Abstract: The development of wide color gamut (WCG) liquid crystal display (LCD) plays an important role in the high-quality television (TV) field. Nowadays, people want their TV or display devices to have the capability of showing vivid colors while keeping skin colors as natural as they remember. Therefore, it is necessary to develop color-correction technologies for WCG LCD system. A new color-correction method named ''natural skin-color mapping algorithm'' (NSCMA) for WCG LCD is proposed in this study. It can solve … Show more

“…When a subgamut enclosing a given colour in CIELab space is found, the K value of CMYK is determined, and the remaining CMY values can be obtained by using three‐ink conversion methods. The polynomial regression method is selected in this paper as the colour conversion algorithm , as it obtains high accuracy with less sample data compared with the 3D interpolation method.…”

“…Simultaneously, higher saturation will get higher evaluation from observers, but the adjustment of saturation cannot exceed the critical value to avoid make people feel unnatural. Especially, for skin-tone memory color, the users will get a higher evaluation if the enhancement range of saturation is appropriately reduced 7 .…”
