Size controlled protein nanoemulsions for active targeting of folate receptor positive cells

Abstract: Bovine serum albumin (BSA) nanoemulsions were produced by high pressure homogenization with a tri-block copolymer (Poloxamer 407), which presents a central hydrophobic chain of polyoxypropylene (PPO) and two identical lateral hydrophilic chains of polyethylene glycol (PEG). We observed a linear correlation between tri-block copolymer concentration and size - the use of 5mg/mL of Poloxamer 407 yields nanoemulsions smaller than 100nm. Molecular dynamics and fluorescent tagging of the tri-block copolymer highligh… Show more

“…The results are given in (Table 9) imply that there were no obvious changes in droplet size distribution, PDI, zeta potential and other physiochemical properties. It could be judged from the results gained, that poloxamer 407 adsorb strongly onto the surface of the nanodroplet via their hydrophobic polyoxypropylene center block and have been shown to be quite successful in regard to stabilization of NE droplet (Loureiro et al 2015). Additionally, expiration date of CC loaded NE-4 was found to be (2.589 years).…”

“…So far, many techniques or methods have been designed to fabricate protein MCs, especially bovine serum albumin (BSA) MCs [6][7][8]. Among these techniques, sonochemical method is a simple physicochemical approach for effectively yielding stable and biocompatible protein MCs [9][10][11].…”
