Abstract: Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), the mammalian ortholog of yeast Sir2, is a highly conserved NAD+-dependent protein deacetylase that has emerged as a key metabolic sensor that directly links environmental nutrient signals to animal metabolic homeostasis.
