Abstract: Background/Aims: With the progress of product development, single-step endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transmural drainage can overcome some disadvantages of the blind or two-step procedures used in the treatment of pancreatic pseudocysts. We therefore evaluated the technical feasibility, efficacy, and safety of single-step EUS-guided transmural drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts. Methods: Endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts was performed in 47 patients (median age, 46 years; range, 38 years to 59… Show more

“…For those symptomatic pseudocysts which do not resolve, there are a number of techniques used to drain the pseudocyst: endoscopically, percutaneously, or surgically. Currently, endoscopic drainage is the preferred technique, as shown in a recent large study, which was effective in 89% of patients with complete drainage of the pseudocyst, with only a 12% recurrence rate, and minor complications (bleeding, infection, mild pancreatitis) in 11% of patients [10]. This compares favourably to both percutaneous drainage (21% effective resolution of pseudocyst) and open/laparoscopic surgical management.…”

“…Since these early descriptions, the technique has evolved and now routinely combines endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) enabling the drainage of non-bulging collections and reducing associated adverse events [2, 3, 1923. ]…”

“…This result consistently matches reports from other centers (77-100%). [31][32][33][34] As the CSEMs are shorter in length, the release of these stents should be more precise. Excess pushing of the stents will cause immediate migration.…”
