“…The hypoperfusion in distant brain areas was always less marked than in the temporal epileptic focus. Similar results showing interictal decrease in rCBF in partial epilepsy has been reported by others using various techniques including two-dimen sional method [15,24], single photon emis sion tomography [2] and PET [9], Likewise an interictal reduced glucose metabolism has been found in temporal lobe and in distant areas of epileptic patients studied by PET with 18-Fluoro-dcoxy-glucose [6]. The hy perperfusion of epileptic focus reported in prior interictal studies performed by the in traarterial Xenon method can be explained either by the cortical localization of the lesion and its tumoral nature [ 13] or by the suberitical activation induced by photic stimulation used during the CBF measurement [25].…”
