“…There are numerous shock indicators in and around the SIC, including shatter cones, impact breccias, pseudotachylitic breccia, and planar deformation features (PDFs) in quartz, coesite, and impact diamonds (e.g., French 1970;Rousell et al 2003). Shatter cones occur around the SIC on all sides, being well-developed in the fine-grained sediments of the target material, and apparently more abundant on the southern edge of the structure, including in the city of Sudbury (e.g., Guy Bray and Geological Staff 1966).
