SGAM-based methodology to analyse Smart Grid solutions in DISCERN European research project

Abstract: The design of future energy automation and management systems requires Distribution System Operators (DSOs) to analyse and compare different technical solutions for determining which of these could be best implemented in their networks. This paper presents a methodology that helps DSOs carry out such a complex task. The methodology is based on the Smart Grid Architecture Model (SGAM) framework. It was implemented using a web-based application that facilitates editing and automatic analysis of SGAM architecture… Show more

“…The knowledge and agreement on requirements, both functional as well as non-functional, become apparently more of a socio-technical than purely technical problem [4]. Various projects have addressed this issue when trying to document knowledge gained from field trials in order to disseminate the results [5]. One of the most important things to get to know to transfer a technical solution is to know its scope and applicability.…”

“…Thereby, a methodology that supports an automated treatment of this information to support the development process is necessary. Santodomingo et al [5] process models based on the Smart Grid Architecture Model (SGAM) [6] and Use Cases defined with the IEC 62559 [7] standard to support network operators in selecting adequate technical solutions for their business needs. The referred study shows attempts to benefit from available information sources (SGAM models) in an automated way.…”
