Abstract

Recognize at-risk populations who are susceptible to sexually transmitted infections and to understand the growing public health concern in transmission of these organisms.• Develop a basic understanding of anorectal immunology and how it relates to the inoculation and systematic infection by viral and bacterial organisms. • Recognize pathology in patients with sexually transmitted infections that require operative intervention. • Provide an overview of diagnostic and treatment recommendations for sexually transmitted infections. • Provide prevention strategies for sexually transmitted infections.
