Abstract: LSI is successful as a memory element, but is slow to penetrate random logic. H i w will LSI handle its major challenge: customize chips for logic applications? The design of an LSI is a complex project, involving teams from different disciplines for many months. The outcome is uncertain, the cost is high and modifications are painful when improvement of a function or correction of an error is required.
