Abstract: Practical monolithic GaAs IC designs are now being developed. Cost effectiveness has become their goal, rather than feasibility demon stration: a 4.3GHz receiver front end on a 1 by 1.6mm chip, a 30 to 1700MHz low noise amplifier on a 1.1 b y 0.75mm chip, and a 3-stage 8 to 16Ghz power amplifier show three aspects of this development.In the 30 to 1700MHz amplifier, designers have minimized gate periphery on the IC, while achieving a 2.2dB noise figure and good input and output match.
