Abstract: The progress in realizing increasing numbers of ROM, EPROM and EROM bits on a single piece of silicon continues unabated. A 4Mb ROM on a 3" wafer, to be reported, reflects this movement, achieved by using redundant circuitry representing a new level in the degree of integration on awafer.The role of ROMs, which previously consisted mostly of lookup tables, has expanded significantly with the advent of microprocessor based systems.
