Abstract: From Inula caspica BLUME (Compo~itae) were isolated 3B-hydroxy-2a-senecioyloxyisoalantolactone (I), whose structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and completed by determination of its absolute configuration, and britannin (II) whose relative configuration was determined by X-ray diffraction and absolute configuration by CD spectroscopy.Although the genus lnula (tribe Inuleae, family Compositae) involves about 100 species, only fifteen of them have been so far analyzed for sesquiterpenic lactones I.
