Service Level Management (SLM) in Cloud Computing - Third Party SLM Framework

Abstract: The key issue in cloud computing in enterprises is the management of the Quality of Service (QoS), by an appropriate SLM (Service Level Management). Cloud Service Provider are offering SLMs to their users. We think that a third party SLM can be a better way to assure a robust and equal SLM. This paper presents the elements of third party SLM, namely Cloud Service Registration Agent, Negotiation Agent, Compensation Agent, Comment Agent, Billing Agent and Service Monitoring Engine. Such framework has been tested… Show more

“…Such strange control where providers not only provide services but also control them selves might lower and, ultimately, nullify the confidence in CC; hence the migration to Public Cloud might "roll-back", alike IT outsourcing at the end of the 90s. In order to avoid such rollback, a Cloud expert is suggested; in the contract setup phase, he could review possible flaws in SLAs breach (as suggested by the ENISA assurance framework and the CSA Cloud Control Matrix [22], [23]). …”

“…Lindner et al [35] believe the application of the supply chain concept to cloud computing to be innovative and suggest the possibility of a new research field. According to Jenks [36], there is a gap between the 'what' and 'how' processes of managing cloud supply chain cybersecurity risks, and seeing that only a few recommendations have been made to bridge this gap, it remains an open research problem [37,38].…”

“…PLM is a crucial way to improve and manage all the steps of a product's lifecycle, which smoothly creates new value by using ICT technologies that achieve economic growth and quick responses to customer needs [18][19][20]. On the other hand, SLM concerns servitization to improve and quickly respond in the service industry [6,21,22]. PSS has been integrated from product and service to observe customer requirements to competitiveness in the manufacturing industry [8,[23][24][25][26].…”
