“…Previous investigators have observed that peripheral bloodderived mononuclear cells from psoriatic patients, or serum from psoriatic patients, could induce angiogenesis (Majewski et al, 1985(Majewski et al, , 1987; however, the exact cell-type (i.e., T cell subset), or the molecules responsible for this angiogenic response, were not further characterized. More recently, attempts have been made to deĀ®ne the cytokine network in psoriasis, and to identify angiogenic as well as angiostatic cytokines that may contribute to the vascular changes present in psoriatic plaques (Nickoloff, 1991).…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Functionally, serum factors may modulate chemotaxis of monocytes and neutrophils and may interfere with angioneogenesis and proliferation of fibroblasts [3][4][5][6], Non-cel lular systemic factors which might be involved in the immunopathogenesis of psoriasis are numerous. It has been suggested that IgA and IgA immune complexes are in volved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis [7][8][9].…”

“…The sera obtained from healthy controls or patients were heat-decomplemented at 56°C for 30 min and tested for their ability to influence NCMC of PBMC from normal healthy donors of blood group 0, according to Majewski et al (1987) with some modifications. Briefly, 2 x lo7 PBMC were incubated in 2 ml of HBSS supplemented with 25% of the tested serum for 3 hr at 37°C.…”
