Serum Interleukin ‐ 2 Receptor Levels and Cutaneous T‐cell Lymphoma

Abstract: The serum of twenty-four patients with histopathological confirmation of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, including three with Sezary's syndrome, and twenty age matched controls was examined for soluble interleukin-2 receptor using a commercially available ELISA kit. Whilst there was no significant difference in the mean concentration of the interleukin-2 receptor between patients with mycosis fungoides and controls, six of twenty-one patients had interleukin-2 receptor levels outside the mean plus two standard devi… Show more

“…Serum sIL2R concentrations were determined using an enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test kit (T‐Cell Science Inc., Cambridge, MA) 5 . Values for CD4 positive and CD8 positive cells were obtained by laser flow cytometry (Ortho, NJ) using OKT4A and OKT8 monoclonal antibodies (Ortho, NJ).…”

“…The normal range of sIL2R was found to be between 61 U/mL and 883 U/mL which was determined to be within the permissible range of 95%, as mentioned in a previous study using the same method. 5 For 15 subjects in the NC group sIL2R levels were within the normal range and they were assigned to a control group. The remaining nine subjects had sIL2R levels of greater than 884 U/mL and were assigned to a group designated as NH.…”
