Abstract: This paper deduces a unified mathematical model of open-circuit fault of six-phase induction machine, and purposes a fault-tolerence sensorless strategy based on the sliding mode observer(SMO) to estimate the rotor flux and rotor speed. In the proposed control scheme, the sliding mode observer is improved to achieve the rotor speed and rotor flux identification under healthy and arbitrary open circuit faults. The stability of the observer is proved by the Lyapunov function. The quasi proportional resonance (QP… Show more

“…With the wide application of power electronic converters, the motor drive system is no longer limited by the phase number of a traditional three-phase power supply, and the multi-phase motor drive system has been widely concerned [1][2][3][4][5]. The six-phase motor has attracted more and more attention because of its close connection with the traditional three-phase motor.…”

“…Although the introduction of a high order sliding mode algorithm to a speed regulation system can improve disturbance resistance performance, it can also increase the complexity of the system. To reduce observer complexity and the chattering problem, a first-order current SMO is designed in [19], with its sliding mode surface adopting the current error term.…”
