Selected Immunohistochemical Prognostic Factors in Endometrial Cancer

Abstract: The overexpression of p53 and Ki-67 seems to indicate a more malignant phenotype, whereas bcl-2 expression in dependence of steroid receptor positivity could contribute to the identification of high-risk tumors.

“…A similar trend is also described in the study carried out by (Graesslin et al 2006, Wang et al, 2005. Markova et al describes a significant relation between age and MMP-7 as in patients older than 65 the expression of MMP-7 was significantly lower (Markova et al, 2010). Another member of the matrilysin enzymes subfamily is identified as MMP-26 (matrilysin-2).…”

“…MMP-26 (matrilysin 2), usually found in the intracellular environment degrades several components of the extracellular matrix and is frequently expressed by endometrium cells [28]. Endometase/MMP-26 is expressed is certain carcinomas such as breast ductal carcinoma [29] and endometrium tumor cells [30]. .…”

“…More specifically: 1. High MKI67 expression is associated with endometrial cancer and the overexpression of MKI67 and TP53 genes indicates a more malignant phenotype with poor differentiation of the tumor cells (Markova et al, 2010). 2.…”
