Seeds of Peltophorum dubium submitted to osmotic conditioning increases germination and vigor

Abstract: Peltophorum dubium (Spreng.) Taub. Show more

“…The effect of KNO3 on germination was not at par as compared to PEG at T11, plausibly due to the low molecular weight of KNO3 that allowed it to penetrate the seed tissues causing toxicity (Bonome et al, 2006). The controlled hydration pattern was maintained by very large molecules of PEG "6000" reducing damage to the embryonic cell walls by the abrupt entry of water into the seed (Missio et al, 2018).  Corresponding author's email: iampragatijosh@gmail.com…”

“…These biochemical changes provide greater elaboration of solutes acting in osmoregulation, such as free amino acids, proline and total free sugars, which can improve the initial establishment of the stand (Almeida et al, 2019). Furthermore, it appears that the osmopriming technique proves to be a viable treatment alternative in the presowing phase, since its use results in an increase in the speed and uniformity of seedling emergence (Arin et al, 2011;Queiroga et al, 2011;Gomes et al, 2012;Missio et al, 2018;Silva et al, 2020).…”
