Seedlings of Acrocomia aculeata in diferent substrates and protected environments

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The seedling production stage is the key to achieve uniformity in tree breeding stage. This study evaluated "bocaiúva" (Acrocomia aculeata) seedling formation, with pre-germinated seeds in different substrates and protected environments, in the University of Mato Grosso do Sul State, Aquidauana, MS. As substrates, we used 100% cattle manure (M), 100% cassava branches (CB), 100% vermiculite (V), 50% cattle manure + 50% cassava branches, 50 % cattle manure + 50% vermiculite, 50% cassava branches + 50% v… Show more

“…The adaptability of the achachairu in substrates with high amounts of cattle manure are in accordance with the observations by Silva et al (2013) who report that substrates containing 50% of cattle manure associated with vermiculite or commercial substrate can be indicated for the formation of coffee plant seedlings, as well as Costa et al (2014) report that substrates containing 33, 50 and 100% of cattle manure can be indicated in the formation of bocaiúva seedlings (Acrocomia aculeata). “…The amount of shading (luminosity) is an essential factor on the initial growth of achachairu and this requires at least 40% of shade (Daniel, 2009). Better Acrocomia Aculeata seedlings were observed in Aluminet ® , when compared to Sombrite ® and to the greenhouse with low density polyethylene (Costa et al, 2014). However, Costa et al (2012b) did not find differences between the Sombrite ® and Aluminet ® , both with better results than in the agricultural greenhouse for 'baruzeiro' seedlings (Dipteryx alata), diverging from Costa et al (2015) who reported better baruzeiro seedlings in Sombrite ® compared to Aluminet ® .…”

“…According to DIAS et al (2009a) the use of manure on substrates, over 30% was not beneficial to coffee seedlings (Coffee arábica), however SILVA et al (2013) reported that substrates containing 50% of manure associated with vermiculite or commercial substrate may be suitable for the formation of coffee seedlings, as well as COSTA et al (2014) reported that substrates containing 33.33, 50.00 and 100.00% of manure may be indicated to the formation of "bocaiúva" seedlings (Acrocomia aculeata). *Uppercase letters in the same rows and lowercase in columns, for each parameter, do not differ from each other by the Scott-Knott test for the substrates and by the F test for cultivation environments, at 5% probability C = Cattle manure; S = ravine soil; M= medium vermiculite; F = super fine vermiculite; Sa = sand…”

“…DOSSEAU et al (2007) also reported that at greater shadowing conditions; with higher number of leaves Tapirira guianensis Alb with bigger leaf area. COSTA et al (2014) found best seedlings of Acrocomia Aculeata in Aluminet® screen when compared to Sombrite ® and the greenhouse with low density polyethylene while COSTA et al (2012) found no differences between the individual screen houses to the seedlings "baruzeiro" (Dipteryx alata). In the environment open air the plants showed the smallest height/collar diameter ratio (H / D).…”
