“…All the beetle assemblages reported here were derived from work carried out by Coope at individual sites and summarized in a number of influential reviews. For the LIG, these studies frequently quote T max values of ∼21 °C and T min values that are the same as, or a degree or so lower than, the present day (Coope, , 2001, 2010; Keen et al ., ; Gao et al ., ). It is important to note that, with respect to Ipswichian beetle assemblages, Coope rarely used the MCR method to calculate T max and T min ranges, preferring temperature estimates based on the modern distribution of thermophilous species and a semi‐qualitative assessment of the most likely temperature values (see Coope, , 2010; Keen et al ., ; Gao et al ., ).…”
