Internet of things (IoT) has evolved as an innovation of next generation in this world of smart devices. IoT tends to provide services for data collection, data management, and data and device security required for application development. Things or devices in IoT communicate and compute to make our lives comfortable and safe. In inventory automation, real-time check on items, their information management, and status management, monitoring can be carried out using IoT. The huge amount of data that flows among the devices in the network demands for a security framework that ensures authentication, authorization, integrity, and confidentiality of data. The existing security solutions like SIMON or SPECK offer lightweight security solutions but are vulnerable to differential attack because of their simplicity. Moreover, existing solutions do not offer inbuilt authentication. Therefore, this research work contributes a secure and lightweight IoT-based framework using wireless sensor network (WSN) as a technology. The existing security solutions SPECK and SIMON are compared with the proposed security approach using COOJA simulator. The results show that proposed approach outstands others by 2% reduction in number of CPU cycles, 10% less execution time, 4% less memory requirements of security approach, and with minimum 10% more security impact.

Internet of Things (IoT) gains popularity in recent times due to its flexibility, usability, diverse applicability and ease of deployment. However, the issues related to security is less explored. The IoT devices are light weight in nature and have low computation power, low battery life and low memory. As incorporating security features are resource expensive, IoT devices are often found to be less protected and in recent times, more IoT devices have been routinely attacked due to high profile security flaws. This paper aims to explore the security vulnerabilities of IoT devices particularly that use Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs). In this work, LoRaWAN based IoT security vulnerabilities are scrutinised and loopholes are identified. An attack was designed and simulated with the use of a predictive model of the device data generation. The paper demonstrated that by predicting the data generation model, jamming attack can be carried out to block devices from sending data successfully. This research will aid in the continual development of any necessary countermeasures and mitigations for LoRaWAN and LPWAN functionality of IoT networks in general.

Background: During the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT) is the main pillar of people and machines connected to each other. It can be an intelligent system when combined with a robot. This is what underlies the importance of robotics and IoT training, especially to be introduced early on. Purpose: This activity aimed to improve students' knowledge and skills in technology. The target of this activity is high school students in Jombang City. Methods: It starts from the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Auditory, visual and kinesthetic techniques are used in this activity, which is in the form of interesting learning media such as power points, videos, as well as demonstrations and practices. Data collection techniques such as questionnaires, pre-test, and post-test, and running tests were carried out to measure the level of skills, knowledge, and satisfaction of participants. Results: A total of 85% of participants did not know about IOT and 83% of the participants already know what the robot. But only 17% ever make robots. Conclusion: After this activity the participants' understanding increased by 20%. Their skills also increased as evidenced by the participants programming themselves so that the robot can run well on the track.
