“…Little has been documented on the hematology of A. anguilla. Hematological values measured in the present study in control eels are in good agreement with those reported by others on the same species (Andersen et al, 1985;Santos and Hall, 1990). The hematological "ndings after eel exposure to molinate reveal a toxic manifestation.…”

“…The hemoglobin within those erythrocytes is the main transport mechanism for oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood. Alterations in blood oxygen capacity reflect a seasonal adjustment in oxygen transport (Anderson et al, 1985;and Cameron, 1970). The result of hemoglobin concentration in brackish water T. zillii is similar to the result of T. zillii by Gbore et al (2006), and lower than those described by Zaki et al (2010b), and T. zillii by Badawi and Said (1971) when compared the blood of four Tilapia species.…”

“…Hematocrit provides a measurement of red blood cells (erythrocytes) in whole blood (Anderson et al, 1985;and Cameron, 1970). The result of hematocrit value in brackish water Tilapia zillii in this study is lower than values obtained from T. zillii; 20.07±0.07 (Gbore et al, 2006), the result of T. zillii 19.80±1.20 ( Zaki et al, 2010a), and result of T.zillii 25.0 (Badawi et al, 1971).…”

“…Similarly, a large resting vagal tone occurs in goldfish acclimated to 20Њ-25ЊC (Cameron 1979), but none is found in 11Њ-15ЊC-acclimated goldfish (Randall 1966). The difference between common carp and rainbow trout in extrinsic control of f H could be related to rainbow trout remaining cold-active, whereas carp and eels (Andersen et al 1985) become cold-dormant and stop feeding in the winter. Thus, during the winter months, when activity must be limited to conserve energy, carp appear to downregulate Q and f H .…”
