Seasonal and Spatial Water Pollution Status at The Rivers Estuaries in Cirebon Region

Abstract: Cirebon has 18 rivers that flow into the Java Sea. The Cirebon rivers play an important role in several sectors such as industrial, agriculture, household, and also aquaculture. The increasing anthropogenic activities, may have affected the health and quality of the Cirebon rivers and the surrounding area. This study aimed to determine the water pollution level of Cirebon rivers based on the Storage and Retrieval (STORET) and Pollution Index approaches. The study was conducted at seven different rivers located… Show more

“…This result in this location is peculiar due to ship activity when the measurement taken. Linear with Hidayah et al (2021), the DO in this area on July is very low (3.1 mg.L -1 ). DO value should be at least 5 mg.L -1 based on national standard (GRRI, 2021), thus the surrounding water (except on March and July) met the criteria, either for sea biota or for sea tourism.…”

“…Overall, the water pH found in range 7.8-8.6 is in normal condition as in quality standard for sea biota set by Indonesia government (GRRI, 2021). Other study, Hidayah et al (2021) measured the stability of pH even in different month (March, July, November) which stays on 7.3-7.4. The result was a bit lower than Zahroh et al (2019), meanwhile in April (Rachman et al, 2019) the pH reached 8.5.…”

“…High oxygen levels describe good and unpolluted water quality, otherwise low implies poor and polluted water quality. Decreasing DO levels may be caused by domestic and industrial waste entering the waters [17]. According to Figure 4, the DO value of Danda Besar SIA in dry season ranges from 4.7 to 4.8 mg/L.…”

“…The waste discharged by humans causes a series of physical and chemical changes in the environment, as well as biological factors of water quality degradation can also affect aquatic ecosystems [13]. The water environment monitoring system includes data monitoring nodes, workstation databases, and remote monitoring centers for water resources monitoring.…”
