Abstract-The usage of video surveillance systems increases more and more every year and protecting people privacy becomes a serious concern. In this paper, we present ASePPI, an Adaptive Scrambling enabling Privacy Protection and Intelligibility. It operates in the DCT domain within the H.264 standard. For each residual block of the luminance channel inside the region of interest, we encrypt the coefficients. Whereas encrypted coefficients appear as noise in the protected image, the DC value is dedicated to restore some of the original information. Thus, the proposed approach automatically adapts the level of protection according to the resolution of the region of interest. Comparing to existing methods, our framework provides better privacy protection with some flexibilities on the appearance of the protected version yielding better visibility of the scene for monitoring. Moreover, the impact on the source coding stream is negligible. Indeed, the results demonstrate a slight decrease in the quality of the reconstructed images and a small percentage of bits overhead.

Abstract-The widespread use of digital video surveillance systems has also increased the concerns for violation of privacy rights. Since video surveillance systems are invasive, it is a challenge to find an acceptable balance between privacy of the public under surveillance and the functionalities of the systems. Tools for protection of visual privacy available today lack either all or some of the important properties such as security of protected visual data, reversibility (ability to undo privacy protection), simplicity, and independence from the video encoding used. In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on well-known warping techniques (common for animation and artistic purposes) to obfuscate faces in video surveillance, aiming to overcome these shortcomings. To demonstrate the feasibility of such an approach, we apply warping algorithm to faces in a standard Yale dataset and run face detection and recognition algorithms on the resulted images. Experiments demonstrate the tradeoff between warping strength and accuracy for both detection and recognition.

Video surveillance system senses and trails out all the threatening issues in the real time environment. It prevents from security threats with the help of visual devices which gather the information related to videos like CCTV'S and IP (Internet Protocol) cameras. Video surveillance system has become a key for addressing problems in the public security. They are mostly deployed on the IP based network. So, all the possible security threats exist in the IP based application might also be the threats available for the reliable application which is available for video surveillance. In result, it may increase cybercrime, illegal video access, mishandling videos and so on. Hence, in this paper an intelligent model is used to propose security for video surveillance system which ensures safety and it provides secured access on video.
