SP1‐induced lncRNA DANCR contributes to proliferation and invasion of ovarian cancer

Abstract: Transcription factor SP1 could manipulate pathways involved in ovarian cancer progression. LncRNAs are involved in SP1‐mediated tumorigenesis. LncRNA DANCR could promote metastasis of ovarian cancer. However, the regulatory function and involvement of SP1‐induced lncRNA DANCR in ovarian cancer remain elusive. Data from this study showed that SP1 was up‐regulated in ovarian cancer tissues and cells (CAOV3, SKOV3, A2780), and SP1 could bind to the promoter region of DANCR through chromatin immunoprecipitation an… Show more

“…It has been shown [ 19 ] that SP1 acts as a transcription factor, can manipulate a signaling pathway for ovarian cancer progression, and has obvious oncogenic effects. Moreover, SP1 expression is aberrant in many cancers and is associated with poor prognosis [ 20 ] such as in thyroid, gastric, pancreatic, lung, and breast cancers.…”

“…SP1 has been described as a promising oncogene in multiple human malignancies, which exerts strong promoting effects on cancer growth, metastasis, and even chemoresistance 25,26 . For instance, in ovarian cancer, SP1 promotes LncRNA‐DANCR‐induced tumor cell proliferation through a direct transcriptional activation 27 28 .…”

“… 25 , 26 For instance, in ovarian cancer, SP1 promotes LncRNA‐DANCR‐induced tumor cell proliferation through a direct transcriptional activation. 27 In colon cancer, SP1 induces drug resistance to 5‐Fu via modulating the members of the Mitogen‐actived protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. 28 There is also some evidence supporting the tumor improvement caused by SP1 in HCC.…”

“…According to GENCODE, more than 56,000 lncRNA transcripts in almost 19,000 genes have been identified in humans [ 30 ]. Recent evidence suggests that lncRNAs are implicated in several cancer progression mechanisms including proliferation [ 31 , 32 ], differentiation [ 33 , 34 ], autophagy [ 35 , 36 ], epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) [ 37 ], invasion [ 38 , 39 , 40 ], and metastasis [ 41 , 42 ]. LncRNAs are often found as modulators of signaling cascades at the epigenetic, transcriptional, posttranscriptional, translational, or posttranslational levels [ 43 ].…”
